Ole Miss basketball teams have had a great season despite not being satisfied with a Sweet Sixteen appearance. Head coaches Chris Beard and Yolett McPhee-McCuin have started to make Oxford care about basketball; with that, big things are happening..
Chris Beard scoops National Coach of the Year Award
In his second season with the Rebels, Chris Beard has changed the narrative. He pushed the Rebels to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2019 and their first Sweet Sixteen appearance since 2001. Ole Miss is relevant in the SEC for the first time in an extended period, and Beard has received recognition for that.
Coach Beard has been named the 2025 Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year, which CollegeInsider.com presents annually to the top head coach in Division I college basketball.
Coach Yo secures three transfers in one day
Ole Miss women's basketball head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin is excellent at utilizing the transfer portal, and she had a day yesterday. Coach Yo secured three transfers yesterday, all exciting players in their own right. Below are the three players:
Virginia, Latasha Lattimore - averaged 14.3 ppg and 8.2 rpg.
Wichita State, Jayla Murray - averaged 12.4 ppg and 5.3 rpg last season
UCF, Kaitlin Peterson - averaged 21.4 ppg last season
Pop Issacs on the verge of Ole Miss transfer
Creighton guard Pop Issacs looks to be on the verge of committing to Ole Miss. Joe Tipton of On3 predicted that he would land with the Rebels, which came in as he visited Oxford. Beard was nearly landing him during last season's portal cycle but just missed out. In 8 games played, he averaged 16.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game
I've placed a prediction for Ole Miss to land a Big East guard out of the transfer portal.

Ole Miss men's basketball plan several transfer visits
Ole Miss started their work in the transfer portal, which served Chris Beard well this past season. LSU guard Corey Chest and Utah Valley forward Carter Welling are set to visit Oxford.
