With a win over Vanderbilt, Ole Miss has effectively slammed the door on any doubt and locked their semifinals spot.
Oxford is already buzzing with excitement over the Rebels potentially bringing March Madness to the Pavilion by winning the SEC Tournament.
Already handling Auburn and Vanderbilt, the remaining two tests of the Rebels will decide how high a seed Ole Miss can secure, or if they entirely fall out of the Top 16.
The March Madness hype is at a boiling point as Ole Miss prepares to lock horns with the Longhorns in SEC Tournament's Round Four. The last time they met in the regular season, Texas escaped with a narrow 67-64 win.
A defensively improved Rebels squad would know just enough from their loss to get their revenge when it matters the most, though.
Here is how the remaining SEC Tournament would look like for the Rebels.
The SEC Tournament Bracket: Tipoff time and channel information
Saturday, March 7 – Semifinals
- Game 13 | South Carolina vs. LSU | 4:30 p.m. ET | ESPN2
- Game 14 | Ole Miss vs. Texas | 7 p.m. ET | ESPN2
Sunday, March 8 – Championship
- Game 15 | G13 winner vs. G14 winner | 3 p.m. ET | ESPN
If Ole Miss pulls this one against Texas, they'll face either South Carolina or LSU, both of whom they have lost to in the regular season.
The underlying revenge is what would give them the ultimate push in the Championship if they get past Texas. Their familiarity with all three squads, plus a stronger defense post four-game skid, would be the primary engine fueling the Rebs for a semifinal and then a Championship win.
The only obstacle standing between them and their SEC Tournament Championship ticket is Texas.
