The Class of 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame was announced yesterday and former Ole Mis quarterback Eli Manning hoped to be inducted as a first-ballot inductee.

His brother, Payton, who had already been inducted into the Hall of Fame, had spoken about how Eli had kept the news a secret from his family and close friends before the Thursday event.

However, it was bad news for Eli, as he was not among the four players to make it to the Class of 2025. The former New York Giants quarterback was a polarizing topic amongst media and fans regarding being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Eli was one of five players hoping to be the first-ballot of inductees. Luke Kuechly, Eli Manning, Terrell Suggs, Adam Vinatieri, and Marshal Yanda missed the chance.

Reports suggest Eli was not even close to being inducted yesterday, receiving only a few votes. However, the official figures have not yet been released.

The four players who were inducted into the Class of 2025:

  • Eric Allen, Cornerback – 1988-94 Philadelphia Eagles, 1995-97 New Orleans Saints, 1998-2001 Oakland Raiders
  • Jared Allen, Defensive End – 2004-07 Kansas City Chiefs, 2008-13 Minnesota Vikings, 2014-15 Chicago Bears, 2015 Carolina Panthers
  • Antonio Gates, Tight End – 2003-18 San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers
  • Sterling Sharpe, Wide Receiver – 1988-1994 Green Bay Packers

Ole Miss fans reacted to the news that one of the greatest Rebels did not make it in.
