Ole Miss football is lining up visits for two transfer portal players this week
Ole Miss and the transfer portal look to be a match made in heaven, looking at the success it has served up for head coach Lane Kiffin.
Players such as Walter Nolen and Princely Umanmielen, who were part of the 2024 transfer class, look to be heading for a first-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. When portal players see that type of help in development from the coaches, Oxford is a top destination.
Kiffin and his staff are now talking to players with the transfer portal officially open, with two players looking like they are set to visit Ole Miss. Syracuse defensive back Marcellus Barnes and Charlotte offensive tackle PJ Wilkins are two early targets.
Ole Miss football offers offensive tackle PJ Wilkins
The Rebels have always offered Charlotte transfer PJ Wilkins, with the offensive tackle confirming to 247Sports that he will visit Ole Miss sometime this week. Wilkins has also received offers from Illinois, Cincinnati, and Memphis.
Ole Miss is also interested in Syracuse defensive back Marcellus Barnes. Other SEC schools, such as Florida, Kentucky, and LSU, have also contacted the former four-star recruit. He could visit Oxford sometime this week.
The Rebels will have plenty of areas of need after the 2024 season, with a whole chunk of payers heading to the NFL, running out of eligibility, and hitting the transfer portal. The offensive line and the secondary are two of those areas, so expect plenty of news regarding players in the portal at those positions
The transfer portal officially opened earlier today, and it's already been a hectic day for Ole Miss regarding rumors and potential visits.
