Ole Miss football still has high chance of making the CFP despite roster turnover

Lane Kiffin has built a competitive roster once again, this time being a much harder one than previous seasons. The Rebels lost double-digit players to the NFL, all of whom played significant playing time as starters in 2024. It means several inexperienced players will step up alongside another top transfer portal class and a talented pool of 2025 recruits.

Despite all of the changes, Ole Miss is still seen as a team with a high chance of making the college football playoffs. The ESPN FPI has revealed the chances of teams making the College Football Playoff (CFP) in 2025, and Ole Miss has the eighth-highest chance at 30.7%.

The ESPN Super Power Index considers a team's roster strength, schedule, and other factors before crunching the numbers and assigning a percentage. The Rebels had a higher chance than LSU, South Carolina, and Oklahoma.

The Rebels have plenty of talent for the 2025 season, but it's not as impressive on paper as it was in 2024. That's not a knock, as most of these players will likely still be around in 2026 unless they transfer. That is something that Kiffin may be counting on, with a year together being a bonus.

That will not mean the target for 2025 is anything less than a CFP birth, and the schedule is not a bad one to help with that. They face Georgia, South Carolina, LSU, Florida, and Oklahoma, all of which are expected to be ranked among the top 25 teams. Three wins from those five, as well as winning the rest of the game, would put them in an excellent position for a postseason playoff spot.

It's set to be another fun season for Ole Miss, with the first game under 100 days away. Can Kiffin guide the Rebels to another double-digit winning season?
