Ole Miss is ranked second in the transfer portal rankings, behind only Texas Tech. However, Lane Kiffin is not done yet. He plans to target a starting offensive lineman who played in the College Football National Championship game.
Notre Dame starter Pat Coogan was one of three offensive linemen to enter the transfer portal since the Fighting Irish lost to the Ohio State Buckeyes on January 20 in Atalanta. The center is attracting attention from top schools, including Ole Miss.
Lane Kiffin even posted an AP news article announcing that Coogan had entered the portal. We know that is Kiffin's way of saying he is interested in his services in Oxford.
Ole Miss has added several offensive linemen after losing most of its starters this season. All the new players have talent, and players such as Percy Lewis, PJ Wilkins, and Delano Townsend could all step up and be stars.
One player they did get a commitment off was Arkansas transfer Patrick Kutus, a guard with SEC experience who should slot in as a day-one starter and will be a good player for the Rebels.
Adding a player like Pat Coogan will strengthen the inside offensive line, bringing us one step closer to having a strong offesnive line for the 2025 season. Will Lane Kiffin spend more NIL money than usual to get Coogan?
That is a possibility, with the offensive line looking like a weakness on the roster. However, we still have, which seems to be a weakness, given the roster, much to learn from this team. Adding Coogan would make them significantly better, though.
