Ole Miss football will need wide receivers from the transfer portal for 2025, and these early players stand out
Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin knows that wide receiver will be an area that needs addressing for the 2025 season. Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins, and Antwane Wells have zero years of eligibility left, and others may enter the transfer portal.
The Rebels will likely have Cayden Lee returning and several redshirt freshman and 2025 recruits, headed by five-star Caleb Cunningham. Kiffin would like to add some experience to the room, and several top players have already declared they will enter the transfer portal that fits the bill.
With the regular season over and the Rebels likely in a bowl game, Lane Kiffin will be focused on putting together the 2025 roster. Will these wide receivers be on his list of players to offer?
Wide receivers Ole Miss may target from the transfer portal
Kevin Concepcion - NC State
It was not a huge surprise when it was announced yesterday that Kevin Concepcion was entering his name into the transfer portal. After an excellent freshman season that saw him surpass 1,000 all-purpose yards and 10 touchdowns, he experienced a sophomore slump.
The problem wasn't on him, as NC State struggled to move the ball on the offense all season and couldn't utilize him anywhere near as much from the backfield
Due to his performance in year one, Concepcion will be at the top of most teams' lists. Working mainly out of the slot, the Rebels already have Cayden Lee, who has shown his capabilities this season. However, you must take advantage of an opportunity to bring somebody in like Concepcion, so Lane Kiffin could be interested.p
Malachi Coleman - Nebraska
Due to his size, Malachi Coleman looks like a perfect Ole Miss player to line up on the outside. At 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds, Coleman was heavily recruited by Lane Kiffin and the Rebels in the 2023 class, having them on his final seven teams.
A four-star prospect, Coleman failed to see the field this season after eight receptions for 139 receiving yards and a touchdown as a freshman. It will be interesting to see if Kiffin makes a run for him again with such little experience on the field.
Eric Rivers - FIU
Lane Kiffin doesn't mind dipping into the Group of 5 Conferences to find talent, doing so with players such as Tre Harris and Dayton Wade most recently. Eric Rivers fits the bill, finishing the 2024 season with 1,172 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns for the Panthers.
Watching Rivers, you see many similarities to Jordan Watkins, who can line up across the line of scrimmage and is a good YAC player. He may not have Power 5 experience, but his qualities look to transition well into a more challenging conference. Rivers looks like a typical Lane Kiffin wide receiver and can be approached now that FIU has fired its head coach.
