It's official. The forward that Ole Miss was expecting a whole lot from for the next season has finally locked in with his next school, Georgia.
Former Ole Miss forward James Scott signs with Georgia
ON3's Pete Nakos reported on April 30 that former Ole Miss forward James Scott has committed to Georgia.
Landing a big 6'10", 225-pound guy is a massive portal win for the Bulldogs.
Scott is the sixth player the Bulldogs have added this offseason. He is the fifth transfer, joining guard Kemauri Millender, guard Freddie Dilione, forward Brady Dunlap, and center Andrew Osasuyi. The Bulldogs have also added high school prospect David Ugonna Ike.
This also marks the fourth pit-stop Scott has made in his collegiate career.
He started off his collegiate career at the College of Charleston for a year before following his head coach Pat Kelsey to Louisville. He spent another season there before coming to Ole Miss.
Scott flashed massive potential throughout the season for the Rebels, but the season didn't go as planned for either Scott or Ole Miss.
Scott would have been the perfect veteran replacement for AJ Storr and Malik Dia, and everyone already knew that. Until the forward announced his decision to enter the transfer portal.
Scott already had standout stats, averaging 3.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game during the 35 games he played for the Rebels. The forward also had a team-best 72.9% showing from the field and led the team with 46 blocks.Â
Chris Beard is already going strong in rebuilding the major gaping holes in the Rebels roster through the transfer portal, but things aren't looking as good as they should for a squad looking to make a redemption.
