A No. 2 transfer portal class has made Pete Golding's recruiting mastermind clear among his foes. Now, it's time to trade paint with the biggest sharks in the recruiting waters and prove he can reel in the nation's premier high school talent.

Cecilia (La.) four-star wide receiver Braylon Calais has narrowed his options down to six schools, and Ole Miss still stands strong in contention. He is an offensive weapon Golding would not like to miss out on.

After consecutive stunning performances for his school, Calais has solidified his status as the nation's No. 5 wideout in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

Ole Miss hot on Braylon Calais's trail

After Ole Miss extended an offer to Calais, he is set for an official visit to Oxford on May 29, 2026.

LSU and Houston might be Golding's biggest recruiting competitors in Calais saga, as the 6-foot-2, 195-pounder is also set for an official visit to the Coogs on June 4, followed by one at LSU on June 19.

Its primetime for Golding to lock down a wideout like Calais. Next season will see Golding experimenting with his fresh-looking WR room in Duece Alexander, Horatio Fields, Darrell Gill, Johntay Cook, Caleb Cunningham, and more.

Golding’s depth for the position is solid, but the Rebels need a true successor to the 'menace' moniker currently held by Chambliss and Lacy.

Securing an elite WR like Calais right now won't be just a recruiting win; it’s a guarantee that the scoring machine won't be slowing down anytime soon.

The offseason would be the time Golding takes over Lane Kiffin and other head coaches on his trail, and locks him in.
