Ole Miss has seen their first wave of players declare their intent to hit the transfer portal when it opens on December 9. Three offensive linemen in Cam East, Kavion Broussard, and Mana Taimani, will look for a new challenge next season.

All three players were used mainly on special teams, but the roster still has holes. The Rebels are also set to lose several players with zero years of eligibility remaining, an area of concern for head coach Lane Kiffin for next season.

Offensive line a position of need in the transfer portal for Ole Miss

Lane Kiffin already knew that the offensive line position would be needed after the 2024 season. Over 50% of their starters across the OL will have burned their eligibility or be heading to the NFL.

Losing three backups means Kiffin may have to reevaluate the number of players he needs to bring in during the two transfer portal windows.

Cam East was signed in the 2022 recruiting class, redshirting in his freshman season. East played mainly on special teams, but did appear a handful of times. Kavion Broussard was a member of the 2024 recruitng class, flipping his commitment from Miami to Ole Miss.

Mana Taimani committed to Ole Miss in 2023 from JUCO, having previously played at Wyoming. He played in 12 games in 2023 and several in 2024, mainly on special teams.

These players may not be consistent starters, but backups on the offensive line are important, as it is a major position that can cause plenty of injuries. Having a trusted rotation can make or break a season.

Lane Kiffin brought in a near-new offensive line last season, which he will have to do again, in addition to others. Luckily, they have some good redshirt freshmen and freshmen on the roster who could find playing time in 2025.
