Ole Miss land 2026 wide receiver out of Folsom that could open the door for top quarterback

Ole Miss grabbed a big commitment yesterday from a wide receiver in the 2026 class. Jameson Powell, a top-100 wide receiver across most recruiting sites, committed to the Rebels yesterday.

The three-star player chose Ole Miss over Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington. Last season, the 5-foot-10, 170-pound prospect had 65 receptions for 1,020 yards and 17 touchdowns at Folsom High School, catching passes from five-star quarterback Ryder Lyons.

Powell is the second Ole Miss commit from the 2026 class and their first wide receiver commit. They are chasing several top targets, including instate talent Tristen Keys. Powell may only be a three-star prospect but don't be surprised to see him move up the rankings this year.

Could adding Jameson Powell help Ole Miss with Ryder Lyons' commitment process? Lyons is a top-ranked quarterback in the 2026 class, ranked three by On3.

Bringing in a player will not significantly boost the Rebels' chances, but it may help a little; Lyons already dropped a social media post after Powell committed to Ole Miss.

Lyons is, of course, heavily recruited by the top schools as a five-star quarterback. USC and Oregon look to be the leaders in their commitment process. However, it's still over a year until signing day for the 2026 class, so there's plenty of time for things to change.

Ole Miss has a few young quarterbacks on the roster but failed to pick one up in the 2025 class. Things like that don't put off Lane Kiffin, who can utilize the transfer portal after the 2025 season.
