Jiyez Fleming, a talented linebacker from Oxford High School in Alabama, made headlines on Sept. 14 when he announced his commitment to play football for Ole Miss. Fleming’s decision came shortly after his unofficial visit to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, where he witnessed the Rebels’ thrilling victory over Arkansas and received his first SEC offer from the program. For Fleming, the electrifying atmosphere and warm reception from both fans and coaches made Ole Miss feel like home.
A standout at the prep level, Fleming chose Ole Miss over offers from schools such as Tulane, Liberty, South Alabama, Southern Miss, UAB, Arkansas State, and Kennesaw State. The 6-0, 218-pound linebacker became the Rebels’ third commitment in the 2027 recruiting class, joining four-star defensive lineman JaMarkus Pittman and defensive back Trae Collins. Fleming’s commitment underscores head coach Lane Kiffin’s focus on recruiting top talent to Oxford and maintaining momentum for future seasons.
Fleming expressed gratitude to his coaches, family, and teammates, as you can see in his social media post below. He was drawn to Ole Miss not just for the football program, but also for the supportive environment and genuine enthusiasm from the coaching staff. With the Rebels as his first SEC offer, Fleming aims to prove his value and show other schools why he deserved greater attention.
For first in for most just want to say thanks to god, my coaches, my teammates and family. That being said will be committing to the university of Mississippi #hottytotty❤️💙🦈🦈🦈 pic.twitter.com/Y4GgeyocPC

Linebacker Jiyez Fleming has committed to Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss
Fleming said following the game, "Just felt like that was home and so I just thought in my head that I need to go ahead and get it started and start my own brand. The coaches showed the most love every (time). That being said, the ‘Sip is the crib. HOTTY TODDY.” He provided that take via On3's Billy Embody.
Fleming is currently unrated by any of the major recruiting services, but given this new commitment, we imagine a ranking will coming soon. This is yet another strong recruiting get for Kiffin and his Ole Miss coaching staff.
