Sports docuseries have taken off over the last several years. Cameras follow teams during the season, accessing areas fans don't usually see, resulting in iconic moments. Netflix, which has produced its fair share of such docuseries, will be dipping its toes into the world of college football.

The announcement from Netflix involved the Southeastern Conference, following the 2024 season, set to be released in the summer of 2025. However, several SEC teams declined the opportunity to be part of the series, including Ole Miss.

Five SEC teams pass on the opportunity

Ole Miss was one of five teams that declined to participate in the behind-the-scenes docuseries. The other four teams were Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Texas.

It may have come as a surprise that Lane Kiffin and the Rebels decided to opt out of the chance. Ole Miss is usually one of the first teams to increase national recognition and help get players more NIL money.

The programs that declined were likely the ones that thought they would challenge for the College Football Playoffs. Maybe they thought it would be a distraction during the season.

The Netflix series is being created by the same production company that created Sprint, Full Swing, Formula 1: Drive to Survive, and BreakPoint. It will consist of eight 45-minute episodes.

Despite some top teams missing from the series, it will still be an anticipated watch for college football fans when released in 2025.
