Ole Miss Rebels QB Austin Simmons is back in action after six weeks of recovering from the ankle injury he sustained in Week 2.
The Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin confirmed in his pre-game sideline interview to Holly Rowe that Simmons will see some action against Georgia in Athens later in the game.
However, QB Trinidad Chambliss will continue as the starting QB vs. Georgia.
It will be after several weeks that both Simmons and Chambliss will play side-by-side. The Rebels might be sitting on a goldmine of talent, and a win here, if both QBs can be at their best today.
All eyes would be on Simmons for two reasons: the QB is appearaing after almost six weeks, fans would keep an eye out for whether his QB skills might have gotten a little rusty.
Secondly, Simmons will be playing under this invisible pressure to match whatever Chambliss has achieved in the past few weeks to even be in the starting QB conversation.
Up until now, Kiffin had kept him there as an option, but Simmons's performance today will decide whether he continues to stay there.
On the other hand, Simmons has the perfect opportunity to put himself back on the map and prove that all the confidence Kiffin had in him pre-season was worth it.
Simmons was not on Ole Miss's injury report during the Washington State week, but Kiffin waited to bring out Simmons back till the Georgia game. Perhaps, there might be some thrilling action brewing in Athens, and Simmons could be behind it all.
