The rumor mill in Oxford has been churning on Deuce Knight ever since there was "growing optimism" surrounding Trinidad Chambliss getting his injunction.
Chambliss's return to the Grove for another season automatically guarantees him the starting QB role in 2026.
The news instantly gave fans a reason to question Deuce Knight's feelings about it, since the Auburn QB was the Rebels' fallback QB1 option if Chambliss were not granted the eligibility.
Then there was also some buzz about Knight's social media activities, suggesting he was not happy with Chambliss's arrival. All of it turned out to be purely rumors, as the QB decided to stand up and pull the plug on the noise himself.
Deuce Knight spills his true feelings
Per Ole Miss 365's sources, "Quarterback Deuce Knight happy about Chambliss return to Rebs."
Despite his QB1 hopes being crushed, Knight being on board with Chambliss puts Pete Golding in the catbird seat for the 2026 season. Not only does it make Ole Miss's QB room depth enough to turn any SEC program green with envy, but it also puts even the most elite of defenses on notice.
It gives Ole Miss a safety net that puts the Rebels in a sweet spot, given their unforgiving 2026 schedule.
The only thing remaining to be seen is how well Knight blends into the culture at the Sip. Chambliss's dominant stats from the last season easily poise him as one of the best returning and overall QBs in 2026.
Knight will need to step up to match his QB1. Knight didn't get to play even a single meaningful snap in his time with Auburn. All he did was come out in the later quarters to feel the stadium lights, and take care of the ball to seal an already winning game.
He finished with merely 259 yards and two touchdowns that came against the Tigers's easiest opponents of the season in Mercer and Ball State.
Knight is yet to play in high-stakes game, and he will most certainly learn a thing or two about handling the ball in a pressure-cooker situation from Chambliss with the Rebels preparing for another CFP appearance.
