Ole Miss Rebels vs. LSU: Final odds and predictions

It's still to be determined if Ole Miss will be without several of their top playmakers against LSU for today's game. Aside from that, the focus will be on getting the win.

Ole Miss and LSU both have one defeat, meaning a loss later today could jeopardize their playoff hopes. The Rebels are coming off an impressive win on the road against South Carolina and will look to continue that momentum. It will be tough, as a night game in Baton Rouge is one of the most hostile atmospheres in the SEC.

Lane Kiffin is sweating on the fitness of several top players, including wide receiver Tre Harris, defensive end Princely Umanmielen, and defensive tackle JJ Pegues. Harris is the big one, the leading receiver in the nation after Week 6. On the Friday injury report, he was moved from questionable to probable, which is a good sign. However, Umanmielen and Pegues were still questionable.

LSU also had some positive news on offense, with freshman running back Caden Durham listed as probable. The Rebels are ranked No. 3 in yards allowed this season (71.2 ypg), allowing just 29 rushing yards to Gamecocks running back Raheim Sanders in Week 6. Like most teams this season, the Tigers may rely heavily on their passing game to put up points.

The key battle in this game will be in the trenches, with both teams operating at a 10% team sack percentage. Which offensive line can hold up the best and give their talented quarterbacks time to make plays? LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has been everything people expected. However, making him uncomfortable is a must for the Rebels' defense.

Henry Parrish Jr. is good to go for the Ole Miss backfield, but Matt Jones, who has been the RB2 this season, is out. Will that mean the Rebel fans will get what they have been crying out for the last few weeks and see Ulysses Bentley IV get a chunk of carries? It's not a guarantee with two other running backs in the room looking to make an impact this season.

At the start of the season, the game against LSU was circled as one of the toughest on the schedule, with a win a statement for the season. Looking at the stats, Ole Miss is favored in nearly every area. However, a night game in Baton Rouge levels it out a little. The big question is, can the offense handle the noise and remain calm in critical situations? If they can, they could leave with the win before heading into a bye week.
