Ole Miss has two regular-season games and whatever the post-season holds. Despite this, Lane Kiffin and his staff must keep an eye on recruiting and transfer portal activity, with the calendar set out as it is in college football.

Players are starting to add their names to the transfer portal, and tight ends coach Joe Cox has identified a name. Zach Atkins entered his name from Northwest Missouri State, and Ole Miss has sent an offer.

Lane Kiffin will have holes to fill on the Ole Miss roster

Ole Miss will have many players burn eligibility and declare for the draft. One of those areas will be a tight end, with Caden Prieskorn in his final year. Dae'Quan Wright has been a great commit from the off-season portal acquisitions.

If nobody enters the portal, Wright will be the No.1 in the room with Dillon Hipp and incoming 2025 recruit Hayden Bradley. Therefore, Ole Miss will likely add one or two tight ends from the transfer portal: Kiffin and tight end coach Joe Cox like what they see from Zach Atkins.

Atkins is 6-foot-5, 245 pounds, and has two years of eligibility remaining. He caught 18 passes for 179 receiving yards and three touchdowns at Northwest Missouri State, a Division 2 school.

The Kansas native only entered the portal on November 19, with Ole Miss sending an offer 24 hours later. Kentucky is another team that has sent an offer to the big tight end.
