Ole Miss TE Caleb Odom underwent a massive physical transformation this spring, but his answer on how he unlocked it was perhaps the most down-and-dirty take that got the job done.
Previously a wide receiver, Odom's shift to TE is a Golding-era change, and Odom had to suit up for the positional shift with more muscle.
Caleb Odom gets real
For someone who weighed around 227 pounds last season, weighing in at around 240 this offseason is a major feat. How did he do it? He "just ate."
"I just remember spring break, and I had just ate a lot, and I was just eating random food," Odom said on Friday.
"Honestly, I wasn't on a diet count, no like calorie count. I was just eating. And I came back, and I was like 238, 237, and so I just kept eating protein shakes at night, making sure I feel full before I go to bed at night, a lot of water before and after workouts, and stuff replenishing."
The staff believed Odom's could "make an impact" immediately as a TE since the Rebels WR room was also fairly loaded.
The move demanded a Odom putting on more muscle as compared to the previous season.
"I'm not gonna lie, it was kind of easy for me and I say that I'm ... very, very glad it was. But I remember before spring break this year I was sitting at like 230, and I had kind of been sitting there for a couple of weeks or a couple months since the season had ended."
The Rebels are still deep into the offseason, and the Rebel Nation will only see Odom live in action in September when Ole Miss opens against Louisville.
