Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss's fight against the NCAA is officially on.
The Ferris State transfer applied for an additional year of eligibility back in November about which Chambliss was particularly confident about.
Everyone thought the QB getting an additional year would be a no-brainer, given the level of confidence his attorney, Tom Mars, showed in his case.
The NCAA had other plans, though, as they bluntly rejected his appeal.
This was just as big of a heartbreak, if not a bigger one, for Chambliss than the Fiesta Bowl loss.
The only difference between the two is that Chambliss can actually contest this decision.
Trinidad Chambliss officially sues the NCAA
The QB and his attorney are dragging the NCAA to the State of Mississippi.
ESPN's Pete Thamel reported, "NEWS: Trinidad Chambliss’ lawyers have officially filed his suit for an injunction in state court in Mississippi for his eligibility in 2026. The lawsuit is in Chancery Court of Lafayette County, which is where Oxford is located. Chancery courts are the only ones authorized to grant injunctions in Mississippi."
"This is an expected step that Chambliss' other lawyer, Tom Mars, had told ESPN in recent days was coming."

Ole Miss would be the most invested in the decision among all. Chambliss has already pledged his commitment to Ole Miss before the decision on his waiver came through.
The pledge of allegiance had Ole Miss fans hoping to see Chambliss lifting the National Championship in 2026, since they missed it by a semifinal loss this season.
The initial non-starter from the NCAA might have crushed those hopes of the Rebel nation, but taking the whole thing to the court is keeping that flame alive.
The decision could take a while. With the transfer portal also officially closed, Chambliss will continue playing as a Rebel if the verdict turns out to bein his favor.
That is why it will be a particularly major decision for Golding's 2026 squad.
