Ole Miss welcome rivals Mississippi State to the Pavilion, looking to make it four consecutive wins in SEC play. The Rebels are also looking to get one back, losing the reverse game earlier in the schedule, 84-81 in OT.
When they met last, the Bulldogs were ranked higher. Heading into today's game, the Rebels are ranked above their rivals, winning four of its last five games, the one loss to No.1 ranked Auburn.
MSU has won two of its last five, beating Georgia and South Carolina on the road. The three losses were all at home to ranked opposition, the latest a No.3 ranked Florida. They lost 81-68 to the Gators in a game where it looked like they threw in the towel in the game's final stages.
The Rebels are 6-6 against Quad 1 teams, while their rivals are 5-6, one of those wins against Ole Miss. However, Coach Beard's team's resume looks much better.
A win for Ole Miss puts them one step closer to the NCAA Tournament. With six games remaning, if the Rebels win all it's home games, they will be in. However, Beard will be looking at a higher seed, so as many wins as possible would help with that.
