The NFL draft process is well underway, with the first all-star draft game to be played in a few days. The East-West Shrine Bowl game occurs on Thursday, January 30, and practice for the players involved began today.
The game will be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX, and the team is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Bowl.
Ole Miss has four players competing at the Shrine Bowl in 2025: linebacker Chris Paul, defensive tackle JJ Pegues, tight end Caden Prieskorn, and wide receiver Antwane Wells.
All four players should hear their names called at some point during the three days of the NFL Draft. Antwane Wells may be the player with the lowest predicted draft position of the four, but he is doing everything to ensure the scouts remember his name.
Wells has been working with former NFL head coach Jon Gruden during the pre-draft process, hoping to help him boost his draft credentials.
On day one of practice, he certainly showed what he could do on the field, something he didn't show enough in his one season with the Rebels.
After transferring from South Carolina, there was a lot of buzz around him in a Lane Kiffin offense. However, he could not get his season going, but he did end up with 28 receptions for 553 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
He is capable of much more, and hopefully, these next few days at the Shrine Bowl, he can show scouts just that.
