Pete Golding did adapt one thing from his predecessor after all.

Lane Kiffin might have become the ultimate antagonist of college football with his media antics, yet he knew exactly how to hype of the Ole Miss fans before any game via the same social media.

Pete Golding uses social media to create hype

Golding thought of carrying on that tradition of hyping the Rebel Nation ahead of games where Ole Miss needed their fans the most.

Although not the elaborate, calculated series of posts or dialogues that Kiffin used to set the atmosphere, all it took Golding was a single emoji to get the hype going.

Ole Miss's new head coach shared a dolphin emoji, signalling the energy in the Grove for the Tulane rematch in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

Besides simply using social media, Golding also utilized his press conference previewing Tulane to call the Ole Miss fans to break the attendance record yet again at the Vaught-Hemingway, making the best out of the home-game advantage they have.

"I think leaving that Florida game, I think they know the expectation," Golding said.

" And so I think they’ve created an environment here over the last couple of years. I think you can look at the records across the SEC as far as home win-loss. I think they know how to do it right. And so I don’t think they need a message from me."

"If they can’t get up for a playoff game, you know, on Saturday in the Vaught, something’s wrong with him and I know they’ll be there. I know they’ll be loud. I know they’ll be proud. And hopefully we’ll put a good product on the field to make them happy when they leave."

It might be Golding's way of restoring the anticipation in the Rebel Nation coming off the chaotic Kiffin drama.

The attendance on Saturday in the Grove will tell whether it worked or not.
