Another top defensive player from the 2025 class has committed to the Rebels today, with family connections already on the roster. Four-star defensive lineman Andrew Maddox has followed his brother in committing to Ole Miss.
Maddox is one of the top defensive players in the 2025 class. The On3 Industry Ranking ranks him as the No. 16 defensive lineman and No. 175 player nationally. He is also ranked the No. 6 player in the state of Mississippi. Andrew Maddox is now the fourth Mississippi player to commit to Lane Kiffin's team, three of them top 10 players in the state.
Andrew joined his brother, true freshman quarterback Anthony "AJ" Maddox, in committing to Ole Miss. AJ flipped his commitment from Texas A&M to the Rebels several days before early signing day in 2023. After committing to Ole Miss, Andrew said, "I'm staying home & playing with my family."
The news is another sign of the continued success of head coach Lane Kiffin in home-state recruiting. Also, the standard of recruiting that Ole Miss is reaching is as good as ever under Kiffin..
Ole Miss football moves up in On3s Team Recruiting Rankings
After a week of commitments, Ole Miss dropped to No. 18 in On3s Team Recruiting Rankings. After the commitment of four-star defensive lineman Andrew Maddox, the Rebels have climbed back up, now at No. 15.
We still have a long way to go before 2025 recruits sign their letters of intent. However, head coach Lane Kiffin is looking to compile his best recruiting class yet, following on from the No.1 transfer portal class.
If Ole Miss can bring success in the 2024 season, with a playoff appearance and potentially an SEC Championship game appearance, expect recruiting to be even stronger going forward.
