Four-star guard McKenzie Mathurin has Ole Miss in her latest list of schools
Ole Miss women's basketball is starting to ramp up their recruitment for the class of 2025 players. One of the top guards has narrowed her list to 14 schools, with the Rebels making it amongst some of the best schools in the nation.
Four-star McKenzie Mathurin had Ole Miss, Alabama, UNC, Oregon, and ten other schools she is considering in her recruitment process. Mathurin has scheduled visits with several schools, including Ole Miss, where she will be in Oxford from August 1-3.
Mathurin, who was committed to Nebraska until recently, spoke to On3 regarding the decision to reopen her recruitment.
"“A lot can change in a year. The thing that changed the most for me was perspective. When I committed, I was playing with Broken Arrow and my high school team and I was the best player on the team. The only star and that’s what I was used to… but after playing with Team Trae Young and with these literal superstars as teammates, I kind of changed my perspective.”"

Team Trae Young was founded by the current Atlanta Hawks star, Trae Young. Its goal was to help youth basketball players from Oklahoma develop their game and showcase their skills during summer league games. Mathurin was recently awarded overall tournament MVP at YFAC.
It's only the early stages of recruiting for Ole Miss women's head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin. However, McKenzie Mathurin will get more buzz behind her heading into her final year of high school. A good visit in August would put Ole Miss in a good place, with recent visits to Alabama and Michigan going well.
