Ole Miss handled its Week 4 game against Georgia Southern as it did its first three games, not easing off the acceleration but with plenty still to improve. The Rebels won the game 52-13, with Jaxson Dart throwing for over 350 passing yards for the fourth consecutive game, but he did throw his second interception of the season.

Lane Kiffin spoke after the game about what he has learned from his team through four games. Kiffin was impressed, suggesting that this team could be elite as long as it keeps performing at a high level.

This Ole Miss team controls their destiny

Lane Kiffin said at the start of the season this is the best team he has had on paper. After four games, he continued his love, saying that the 2024 Ole Miss team had the chance to be elite, and they control that outcome.

""I think they have a chance to be really elite, a chance to be really special. Now, there are a lot of variables in that.""

Lane Kiffin at press conference

Kiffin said he has seen the team gel in spurts. Now, with SEC play incoming, he wants to see that more consistently. With the players they have, if they can put together near-perfect games, very few teams would be able to handle this team.

The defense has allowed under 50 rushing yards in each of their four games, with new additions Walter Nolen and Princely Umanmielen a considerable part of that. People will talk about the opposition's being weak, but you can only stop what's in front of you, which the team has done.

When Kentucky comes to Oxford next Saturday, we will get a real feel of what this roster can do. This is a Wildcats team that pushed Georgia to the end in Week 3. Lane Kiffin will prepare them for an excellent SEC defense, but now the mistakes must be corrected, as the team will be punished in these games.
