Ole Miss baseball and softball had mixed fortunes on Sunday, with a victory and a loss between them.

Ole Miss baseball went down 6-2 to South Carolina, missing the opportunity to sweep the #20 Gamecocks. It took the Rebels to 15-6 on the season and 2-1 in conference play.

Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco spoke about the game three loss, “We just didn’t play well enough. We talked about this at length last year. If you don’t play well, you lose in this league. That’s the beauty and the difficulty of the Southeastern Conference….we were able to play a little bit better than them the first two days. They played better than us today."

The Rebels made their only two runs at the bottom of the sixth, thanks to a triple by Treyson Hughes, scored Ethan Lege from first. Luke Hill brought Hughes home with an RBI groundout.

The Rebel's next match-up is against Southern Miss on Tuesday in Pearl, Mississippi.

Ole Miss Softball had an impressive win over #2 LSU, taking the third game 5-2. The Rebels win handed the Tigers their first loss of the season, heading into game three on Mar. 18.

Top performances from pitcher Makenna Kliethermes, allowing just two runs over 6.1 innings pitched to win her ninth decision. Jalia Lassiter had a career day, notching two doubles, a run scored and two RBI.

The Rebels will be looking to take a famous series win today in game three against the Tigers, with the first pitch at 6:00 P.M. ET.
