Ole Miss Basketball game 31 preview vs Texas A&M
It's Senior Day in Oxford tonight for the Men's Basketball team, with the Rebels looking for a win over Texas A&M to secure a first-round bye in the SEC Tournament.
After the disappointing loss to Georgia earlier in the week, Ole Miss need the win tonight against Texas A&M. A victory will not end the drought of not featuring in the NCAA Tournament since 2019. However, it will give them a first-round bye in the SEC Tournament.
The Aggies have won their last two games, resulting in the team leapfrogging the Rebels in the Southeastern Conference standings. One of the victories was a 14-point win at Georgia, halting a five-game losing skid.
The Aggies have been a funny side this season, recording impressive victories over ranked Tennessee and Kentucky while losing twice to Arkansas and once to Vanderbilt. If the best version of this season's Texas A&M team shows up today, Ole Miss could find themselves in trouble.
The Aggies have been without Henry Coleman II in their last two games, and despite them being wins, he is a big loss for the team if he is out again today. Manny Obaseki has started the last two games, averaging 15.5 points per game.
The leading scorer for the Aggies is junior guard Wade Taylor IV, averaging 18 points per game while averaging a team-leading four assists per game.
In the previous meeting this season, the Rebels won 71-68 on the road, only their second win away from Oxford, the other being at Missouri, who have failed to win a conference game. The Rebels were lucky to win the game, with the Aggies throwing away a nine-point lead just before the half.
Chris Beard's side will need to find their best ball to secure a win, meaning a first-round bye in the SEC Tournament.
