Ole Miss Guard Marquesha Davis became the seventh Lady Rebel to be drafted on April 15, selected in the first round by New York Liberty.
Marquesha Davis was selected with the 11th overall pick in the WNBA Draft on April 15. Davis was invited to Brooklyn for the event and was selected by the home town team, New York Liberty. The Ole Miss guard was the fifth first-round selection in program history.
Contrary to the expectations of many media analysts, Davis's talent and potential shone through, with Rebecca Lobo, one analyst, even dubbing her a potential 'sleeper' pick in round one.
Davis, brimming with eagerness and determination, expressed her excitement to join the New York Liberty and learn from the seasoned veterans on the roster.
"I would say what excites me the most about coming into this Liberty team is learning from the vets that are there and just going in and continuing to grow," Davis said. "Something that stood out to me was them looking for a two-way player, and me being just that."
