Ole Miss Basketball Land a Commitment From Sam Houston State Transfer Davon Barnes
Ole Miss Basketball landed their fourth commitment from the portal in Sam Houston State transfer Davon Barnes.
Ole Miss head coach Chris Beard is making waves in the transfer portal. From April 13 to April 18, the Rebels have seen a surge in commitments, with four players choosing to join the team, the latest being Sam Houston State guard Davon Barnes.
Barnes is coming off his junior season, averaging 13.5 PTS, 3.5 REB, and 1.6 AST. He featured in the 2028 November 18 game against the Rebels. In that game, the Memphis native scored 22 points, with the Bearkats going down 70-67.
In his first two seasons with Texas Southern and his past season with Sam Houston State, Barnes has demonstrated a consistent upward trajectory in his performance. Now, he is poised to unleash his skills in the highly competitive SEC with Ole Miss.
Florida Atlantic Transfer Guard Alijah Martin to Visit Ole Miss
With Coach Beard's 100% success rate regarding his top targets in the transfer portal, could Florida Atlantic transfer Alijah Martin be another?
Martin, a Mississippi native who recently explored SEC rivals Florida, is now preparing to make a significant visit to his hometown Rebels.
The 6-foot-2 guard was crucial to the Owls' historic 2023 run to the final four. During the 2023/24 season, Martin had his best seasons in rebounds and assists, also passing the 13 PPG mark for the third season in a row.
