It was confirmed that Ole Miss will be without defensive end Jared Ivey for the game against Georgia Southern. Ivey is dealing with an ankle sprain suffered in the 40-6 win over Wake Forest in Week 3.

His return has no timeline, but head coach Lane Kiffin said it was a "short-term" situation. We will follow the situation closely before the Week 5 game, the SEC opener against Kentucky, but for now, Ole Miss will have to find a solution to replace their starter.

Which players could take the role of Jared Ivey?

Defensive lineman and Chucky Mullins Award winner JJ Pegues filled the role against the Demon Deacons when Jared Ivey left the game. He performed well, but you do lose a little from what he can bring on the inside.

That could lead Lane Kiffin to rotate players around, such as Zxavian Harris, Princely Umanmielen, and Suntarine Perkins, who could all deputize for Ivey. This would mean Pegues could sometimes flip inside and sometimes play on the outside.

We will see how defensive coordinator Pete Golding lines them up on the first defensive snap, but it will not be surprising to see rotation throughout the game. We know running back Logan Diggs (knee) and offensive lineman Jeremy James (hand) are also out, potentially for several more weeks.

Aside from those injuries, back up wide receivers Devin Price and Izaiah Hartrup are questionable. Aside from Jared Ivey, all the starters are ready in Week 4.
