Ole Miss Football Could Beat These Non-SEC Teams For the First Time This Season
Ole Miss Football's first four games of the 2024 schedule are against non-SEC teams. The Rebels could record first-time wins over three programs this season.
Lane Kiffin has the opportunity to help deliver a special season for Rebels fans. Three of the first four games on the schedule are against teams Ole Miss have failed to beat in their history. Can Kiffin guide the team to first-time wins over the following teams in 2024?
Furman - August 31 - Record 0-1
The Rebels face FCS team Furman in week 1 of the 2024 college football season. Ole Miss has taken on the Paladins just once before, way back in 1924. The Rebels lost the game 7-2, a standard score in the early years of college football.
It's unlikely that Ole Miss will not record their first win over Furman this season. It's a perfect cupcake game to start the 2024 season with all due respect to the opponents.
Wake Forest - September 14 - Record 0-2
The most challenging non-conference game of the 2024 season for Ole Miss comes in week 3 against Wake Forest. After two games in Oxford, the Rebels will play on the road against the Demon Deacons.
The two teams have met twice, and Ole Miss lost both times. The last time was in 2008, going down 30-28 thanks to a walk-off field goal.
Wake Forest struggled in 2023. However, it will be a challenging game for the Rebels, but one that should end up in the win column.
Georgia Southern - September 21 - Record 1-0*
I know what you are thinking—the record says one win. However, the victory came during the 2016 season, a year Ole Miss had to vacate all wins due to NCAA violations. So yes, they do have a win over Georgia Southern, but the NCAA record says otherwise.
A win over the Eagles in week 4 of the 2024 season would be Ole Miss's official win and would likely give the Tigers a 4-0 start before conference play.
