With both of these teams being far distance, there is no surprise they have only played each other once in their history. Their only matchup came in a postseason bowl game, the Music City Bowl in late December.

It was a high-scoring game as the Mountaineers took the win 49-38 with the Rebels ending the season 7-5. The biggest win Ole Miss had that season was a win over rival No. 23 Mississippi State.
