How many wide receivers are too many? Lane Kiffin believes there is no limit, grabbing another from the transfer portal this weekend. Former Utah State receiver Micah Davis committed to Ole Miss after visiting Oxford over the weekend.

Davis was able to enter the transfer portal due to the firing of Aggies head coach Blake Anderson. After entering his name on July 30, Davis organized a visit to Oxford the following Saturday and committed to the Rebels overnight.

In the 2023 season, Davis finished with 36 receptions for 628 yards and six touchdowns. He also had 27 punt returns for 250 yards and six kick-off returns for 83 yards. The Georgia native will be utilized as a wide receiver, and he is expected to see plenty of action on special teams on kick returns.

During his time with the Air Force, he was used as a running back in their triple-option offensive scheme. During the 2021 season, Davis rushed 47 times for 360 rushing yards and four touchdowns, averaging 7.7 yards per carry.

According to sources, he has completed the desired paperwork, which the NCAA will process. The hope is that Davis can join the team as early as Monday.

Versatility in the wide receiver room is a strength in 2024

The Ole Miss wide receiver room is a massive strength for the team in 2024, stacked four deep at each position. If injuries occur during the hectic season, Lane Kiffin has options behind the top guys.

All the guys in the room are capable of performing to a high standard. Of course, the top four guts have significantly less ability, but they are all still reliable if called upon.

Ole Miss brought in Antwane Wells, Jordan Smart, Devin Price, and now Micah Davis from the transfer portal, making its depth at the position deeper than that of any other team in the nation.
