Ole Miss Football: Number one overall transfer Walter Nolen commits to Rebels
Ole Miss have been flying in the transfer portal, grabbing ten players since it officially opened on Dec.4. Earlier, Ole Miss just landed the number one ranked player from the transfer portal, Texas A&M transfer Walter Nolen.
Lane Kiffin has been named the "Portal King" by Rebels fans and college media. They might have to add the word ultimate to the nickname, with Kiffin adding defensive lineman Walter Nolen from the transfer portal earlier.
Walter Nolen was the number one overall player in the transfer portal when he entered on Dec.4. Nolen has recently had a weekend visit to Oxford, with Kiffin and the team making a big impression on the Defensive lineman.
Nolen had already been on a visit to Oregon. However, the Tennessee native has chosen to commit to Ole Miss.
"“If you look on paper you can already see the team. I think they’re going to be something serious. I think Coach Kiffin is a great coach. When it’s time to lock in I think he can teach you some things and get you ready to go to the next level.”"
- Walter Nolan
Lane Kiffin is building something special for the 2024 season. Nolen is now the eighth defensive commit from the portal for the Rebels. They have added the top linebacker in Chris Paul Jr., the best edge in Princely Umanmielen and now the best defensive lineman in Walter Nolen.
The Ole Miss defensive line is looking stacked with the additions of Walter Nolan, Princely Umanmielen and Tyler Baron. They also have JJ Pegues and Jared Ivey returning for another season. Both players combined for nine sacks during the 2023 season.
With the additions from the portal, Ole Miss look to be a genuine threat to Georgia and Alabama for the 2024 SEC title. There is still more to come for the Rebels, with the team trending to get a commit from South Carolina WR transfer Antwane "Juice" Wells.
Lane Kiffin has made Ole Miss a very good football team in his four seasons as head coach. He is now looking to make them a great football team, starting in 2024.
