Ole Miss football is usually ranked at the No. 5 position in CFB's top 25s. However, two On3 analysts have the Rebels outside that in their latest rankings.

Are people getting sick of the Ole Miss hype yet? Not us. Despite a ball not being snapped, the Rebels keep making waves in college football rankings. Before Spring, Lane Kiffin's team was a familiar figure at the No. 5 spot. However, two On3 analysts have Ole Miss outside the top 5.

Jesse Simonton and Andy Staples dropped their CFB top 25 rankings over the last week, having the Rebels in different spots in the top 10. Simonton had Ole Miss at No. 6, which isn't unusual. However, Staples had the Rebels at No. 9 behind Florida State and Notre Dame.

Though both teams are quality teams in their own right, the Ole Miss roster seems much stronger than the Seminoles and Fighting Irish.

With still three months till the 2024 season begins, we will undoubtedly see how accurate these CFB top 25 rankings are after several games.

Why does Ole Miss deserve to be this high in the CFB top 25?

Many college football fans have moaned about Ole Miss being so high in rankings. However, they deserve to be where they are at this stage of the off-season.

Coming off a program record 11-2 season, Lane Kiffin has kept his foot on the accelerator thanks to the transfer portal. The defense had the most questions coming out of the 2023 season, especially the defensive line. Defensive coordinator Pete Golding and Kiffin have bolstered the line with big game-changing players.

Walter Nolen, Princely Umanmielen, and now the latest addition, Chris Hardie, Ole Miss has one of the best defensive lines in the nation. The linebacker core is solid, and the defensive back room is sound. We knew the Rebels' offense would be hot before the off-season additions made them top-tier. The defense is now looking like it can compete against the elite in college football.

As we keep saying, they have to put it all together on the field. However, everybody else ranked in the CFB top 25 does, too.
