With the loss of Quinshon Judkins at running back for the Rebels, the question was, who would take over the role of RB1? Could the return of Ulysses Bentley IV have answered that?

Rebels senior running back Ulysses Bentley IV has today taken to social media to confirm he will be back in Oxford for the 2024 season. Bentley IV took to his Instagram to post a picture with the words 'Staying Home'. Ole Miss also posted on their X account, formerly known as Twitter, with the Bentley IV re-posting.

It's big news for Lane Kiffin after seeing the Rebels RB1 head to the transfer portal. Ulysses Bentley IV has been an excellent support piece to Judkins in 2023, outperforming Judkins in games against Arkansas and Georgia Tech.

Bentley IV finished the 2023 season with 95 carries for 540 rushing yards and four touchdowns. The senior RB also added 87 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Bentley IV had accepted an invite to the Hula Bowl, a post-season all-star football game, where scouts from the NFL and other football organisations would be watching. However, it looks like the chance of playing a bigger role in the Rebel's offence has potentially swayed him to stay for his final season in college.

We will now see if Lane Kiffin looks to the transfer portal to pick a running back as backup or support Bentley IV in 2024. Kiffin also has four-star 2023 recruit Kedrick Reescano, who could be the RB2 for the Rebels.

After the decision from Ulysses Bentley IV today, Ole Miss can feel much more comfortable in the running back position going forward.
