The 2024 SEC college football schedule was announced Wednesday live on ESPN. Next season will see the new look Southeastern conference, with Texas and Oklahoma moving over from the Big 12 conference. The divisions are gone, with the best two teams at the end of the season competing in the championship game in Atlanta.
Furman - Aug.31
The opening fixture for Ole Miss in the 2024 season will be against FCS team Furman Paladins at the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
Last weekend, Furman were knocked out of the FCS playoffs, losing in the quarterfinals to Montana. The Paladins finished the regular season 9-2, securing a first-round bye in the playoffs. They beat Chattanooga in the second round to advance to the quarterfinal, where they bowed out.
Ole Miss have only met Furman once, back in 1924, a game the Rebels lost 7-2. This season, Furman played their first SEC team since 2014, both meetings being against South Carolina.
It's a start that most teams like to schedule against an opponent they should beat comfortably in their home stadium. Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin will expect a professional performance while getting back in the swing of competitive football.
