Ole Miss Football: Two offensive linemen that could transfer to the Rebels
Despite the Transfer Portal closing a few days ago, players with their names still in the portal can look for a new team. Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is looking to strengthen his offensive line with some players still available.
A few days after the transfer portal closed, Lane Kiffin is still working to bring players into Oxford. Despite the portal officially shutting on Dec.5, the players who have already entered the portal can still find a new home. Will Lane Kiffin have the below players on his roster for the 2024 season?
Diego Pounds
One offensive lineman who looks to be on his way to Oxford is North Carolina transfer Diego Pounds. The 6-foot-7, 330-pound OT took to social media to put out a post with a shark emoji followed by a question mark.
Pounds has been with the Tar Heels for three seasons, breaking into the starting lineup this season. The redshirt sophomore started eight games for the team this season at left tackle.
Diego Pounds is the third-ranked offensive tackle in the transfer portal, according to On3. If Kiffin can get a commitment from Pounds, it would be a solid piece who can play both tackle positions.
Zalance Heard
The Rebels are in the running for a once five-star recruit in Zalance Heard. Rumours are they are in a fight with Lincoln Riley and USC for a commitment.
Heard was the top recruit in LSU's 2023 recruiting class and was set to be a big part of the team's future plans. The freshman started one game for the Tigers this season. However, he featured numerous times in others.
This would be up there with the Walter Nolen signing if Kiffin could acquire Zalance Heard from the transfer portal. Offensive line coordinator John Garrison would love a player with the qualities of Heard.
