Ole Miss Football: Two players who could fill the void left by CB Decamerion Richardson
Ole Miss learnt earlier today that a December commit from the transfer portal has opted for a crack at the NFL. Mississippi State transfer Decamerion Richardson decided that the NFL Draft was the better option for him in 2024. Could Lane Kiffin already have replacements ready to commit to the Rebels?
Lane Kiffin lost one of his top transfers earlier, cornerback Decamerion Richardson. The Mississippi State transfer, who committed to Ole Miss in December, has opted to enter the NFL Draft. However, Rebel fans may not have to wait long to see a replacement heading into Oxford.
South Alabama DB transfer Yam Banks could be joining Lane Kiffin for the 2024 season. Banks has already had an official visit to Oxford, with a crystal ball prediction also in for him to commit to the Rebels.
Yam Banks was part of the Jaguar's first bowl game win this season, beating Western Michigan in the 68 Ventures Bowl. Banks finished the season with 45 tackles and one interception. During his sophomore season in 2022, Banks had six interceptions.
Banks has played safety and at the nickel position for South Alabama, so is not in the same mould as Richardson. However, he would be a great addition to the secondary for Ole Miss
One player who could fill the hole left by Richardson is Michigan transfer cornerback Amorion Walker. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound corner is reported to be on an official visit to Oxford this weekend.
Walker didn't see much action during his two seasons at Michigan, featuring in just three games, all during the 2023 season. In those games, Walker had two tackles and one pass deflected.
Lane Kiffin also has a handful of other names that he is looking at from the transfer portal. Tennessee defensive back Brandon Turnage is one of those names that could also be on the Ole Miss radar.
