Ole Miss Football: Virginia Tech TE Dae'Quan Wright commits to Rebels
It's been a quieter month in the transfer portal for Ole Miss compared to their December exploits. However, earlier they sealed another commitment from Virginia Tech TE transfer Dae'Quan Wright.
Ole Miss have secured a commitment from a player on Lane Kiffin's radar for a few weeks. Virginia Tech tight end Dae'Quan Wright was announced via the Ole Miss social media accounts.
Wright adds depth at the tight end position alongside junior Hudson Wolfe, redshirt freshman Jayvontay Conner and Caden Prieskorn. Wright could fight for the number two spot on the depth chart with Wolfe and Conner, with Prieskorn the number one TE on the roster.
In his two seasons with the Hokies, Wright caught 47 passes for 574 yards, 208 of those as a true freshman. Wright is a big tight end, standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 249 pounds. However, his size does not stop him when it comes to speed and agility.
Ole Miss had been linked with the Georgia native since he entered the transfer portal on Nov.28. He finally visited Oxford this weekend, with his decision to commit to the Rebels coming shortly after.
It's another exciting piece for Lane Kiffin to use in the offense. Despite Caden Prieskorn being the clear number-one tight end last season, Wright has the talent to be used frequently during the 2024 season.
