Ole Miss Looking to Land a Commitment From Houston Transfer Cornerback Isaiah Hamilton
Ole Miss is still active in the transfer portal and looking to land Houston transfer cornerback Isaiah Hamilton.
With Amorion Walker transferring back to Michigan, Ole Miss look to add a cornerback from the transfer portal. A player the Rebels offered was Houston transfer cornerback Isaiah Hamilton. The Senior confirmed he was considering Ole Miss, Alabama, Michigan, and Missouri.
In his junior season with the Cougars, Hamilton started all 12 games, totaling 50 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 4 pass breakups. He also had 3.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble. It was his only season in Houston, playing three seasons at Texas Southern before the 2023 season.
Hamilton hit the transfer portal late, beating the May 1 deadline; he is set to visit Alabama this weekend and hopes to arrange a visit to Oxford soon.
What Does the Cornerback Depth Look Like for Ole Miss?
The Ole Miss cornerback room is in a good state. However, after Amorion Walker's departure, it could use at least one more body.
Alabama transfer Trey Amos looks to have locked down one of the starting jobs on the outside. Amos brings a wealth of experience, featuring in 12 games in an elite Alabama defense in 2023. The starter on the opposite side looks to be going the way of Tennessee transfer Brandon Turnage, another cornerback with tons of experience in the SEC.
Jarell Stinson and Chris Graves are backups to the two guys mentioned. Both players have seen some action, with Graves flashing in his limited time during the back end of the 2023 season. Head coach Lane Kiffin has several other walk-ons and freshmen on the roster, but the hope is not to start them in 2024.
Head coach Lane Kiffin should add at least one cornerback available in the portal. Getting a commitment from Isaiah Hamilton would boost the position group dramatically for Ole Miss Football.
