Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart continues to make preseason watchlists

When Jaxson Dart announced he was returning to Ole Miss, it was all about the team and what they could achieve in the 2024 season. He may not admit it, but solo achievements will also be his mission. Could he be the first Ole Miss quarterback to win the Davey O'Brien Award?

Today, he made the first step, being added to the preseason watchlist for the award alongside 35 other quarterbacks. Players can still make the list during the season with good performances, but it's a testament to the past performances of the 36 players selected.

Earlier this month, Dart made the preseason watchlist for the Walter Camp Award alongside Ole Miss' defensive tackle Walter Nolen. The award is presented each season to the best college football player in the nation.

There are still several awards that Dart can make the watchlist for, including the big one, the Heisman Trophy. If Dart can make the final three, that would be a momentous achievement for him and likely mean that Ole Miss has had a good season. The winner of the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award will be announced on Thursday, December 12.
