Ole Miss will play an FCS side in week one for the second consecutive season, with the Furman Paladins coming into Oxford on Saturday. Last season, the Rebels laid a stuffing on Mercer, winning 73-7, with wide receiver Tre Harris finishing with four touchdowns and 133 receiving yards.

Furman is a much better team than Mercer. They finished the season 9-2 and made it to the quarterfinals of the FCS Championship, losing in overtime to Montana. They have lost several key players, including the majority of their secondary, so they will look different in 2024.

Ole Miss is a big favorite in the game. However, Furman did push South Carolina close in Columbia during the first half, so the opposition should not be taken lightly, something head coach Lane Kiffin will not do.
