The new UFL season starts at the end of March, with another past Ole Miss Football player signing to a roster.
After a couple of seasons in the NFL, former Ole Miss Football quarterback Matt Corral has joined the newly formed UFL league. Corral is joining the Birmingham Stallions, it was announced on Tuesday.
Born in Ventura, California, Corral was previously drafted by the Carolina Panthers in round three of the 2022 NFL Draft. A pre-season injury forced him to miss the entire 2022 season, then being waived during the pre-season of 2023. He found a home in New England before being released from the practice squad in September.
Corral looks to reignite his American Football career in the UFL after a disappointing time in the NFL. Despite this, Corral had a strong four seasons with the Rebels from 2018 to 2021. The West Coast native completed 612 passes for 8,281 yards and 57 touchdowns. He also rushed for 1,338 yards, adding 18 touchdowns.
The Birmingham Stallions are one of eight teams in the newly formed UFL league. The league was created from the merger of the XFL and USFL in 2023. The Stallions won back-to-back USFL titles and will be looking for their third straight title in the UFL this season.
Before the season starts in April, there will be a curtain raiser on March 30 between the two reigning champions of both merged leagues. The USFL champions, the Birmingham Stallions and the champions of the XFL, the Arlington Renegades, will face off.
