Two AP Poll voters believe there are more than 12 teams better than Ole Miss in 2024

Ole Miss has always been in the top 10 of preseason rankings. When two AP Poll voters had them just inside the top 12, it wasn't a huge surprise, but two others had them outside the top 12, and wait till you see who was ranked above them.

When the preseason AP Poll is released, it's followed by plenty of fans asking questions. When Ole Miss landed at No.6, most Rebel fans were happy with where the team was. Surprisingly, despite the average votes having them at No. 6, two voters had Ole Miss outside the top 12 on their preseason rankings.

Fans would be okay if voters had Ole Miss anywhere in the top 10. The top 12 might not get much love, but it still shows they are a playoff team. Outside of the top 12, that is wild, which two AP voters have done. Before we get into where the Rebels were ranked, it's important to say that opinions make this sport fun, and without them, we don't have the conversations.

One voter had Ole Miss at No.15, behind LSU and Clemson and in front of Kansas and Kansas State. The same voter had Oklahoma, Missouri, and Tennessee in their top 10. You can push back against all these ranks, but the Oklahoma choice is different. The Sooners were only selected in the top 10 twice, usually ranked between the 10 and 20 mark.

The other voter had Ole Miss at the 14 spot, but surprisingly, they were behind No.13 Iowa. Only two voters had the Hawkeyes in the top 15, both at the No. 13 spot. It's a big jump, with most voters having Iowa rank 17 to 25. There were even several voters who did not rank Iowa.

These are just preseason rankings, and a lot will change throughout the season. However, they show the difference in thinking among many AP voters, with some questionable decisions and some conversation-starting ones. With just over two weeks until the season starts, we will see some predictions being totally wrong.
