On July 29, 2025, the Baltimore Orioles officially selected the contract of Houston Roth, marking the 27‑year‑old right‑hander’s Major League debut. The move came just hours after trading reliever Seranthony Domínguez to Toronto between games of a doubleheader—leaving a bullpen vacancy that Roth is now set to fill.

Drafted in the 29th round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Ole Miss, Roth steadily climbed the Orioles’ ranks, spending parts of six seasons with the organization before earning his call-up. In 2025, he delivered his best professional season to date, appearing in 24 games across Double-A Chesapeake and Triple-A Norfolk, posting a 4–0 record with a 2.21 ERA, 40 strikeouts, and 36.2 innings pitched. Despite this breakout season, Roth wasn’t ranked among Baltimore’s top prospects.

Roth will become the 58th Ole Miss Rebel all-time to play in Major League Baseball. He will also be the 5th this season to make their debut, joining Doug Nikhazy, Gunnar Hoglund, Ryan Rolison, and the captain, Tim Elko.

Roth was a part of the 2017 recruiting class for Ole Miss baseball that was ranked the top class in the country, he was also one of three Oxford kids to be in that class. Over the course of his three-year Rebel career, Roth made 56 appearances, pitching a total of 123 innings in which he tallied 156 strikeouts. An impressive strikeout rate that he has continued in his pro career.
