Ole Miss walked onto the court at the Coleman Coliseum, not given much chance by anybody to move to 4-0 in conference play. However, Chris Beard's team recorded a famous 74-64 win, the first on the road over a top-five-ranked opponent in program history.
The Rebels also ended several streaks, including a first win over a top 5 opponent since 2001. The ESPN analytics predictor had Ole Miss with an under 25% chance of winning the game, with Vegas having them as an 11-point underdog.
Alabama led by four points at halftime, but it had zero answers for Ole Miss in the second half, managing just 28 points. The Crimson Tide lost the turnover battle convincingly 21-7.
Five Ole Miss players hit double-digit points against Alabama
Ole Miss had five players hit double-digit points during the game, led again by Malik Dia (23). The Belmont transfer has come alive during conference play, recoding his fourth consecutive game with double-digit points.
Dia also recorded a double-double game, having 19 rebounds, the most he had in college. He was a demon in the paint; 15 of those were defensive rebounds, not allowing Bama second or third-chance opportunities to score.
The other four were Jaemyn Brakefield (13), Jaylan Murray (13), Sean Pedulla (12), and Matthew Murrell (11). Pedulla continues to hit vital three-point shots during games, and even when he misses, he is confident enough to continue.
Ole Miss reduced Alabama's Mark Sears to 11 points despite coming into the game averaging over 19 points per game.
Ole Miss is on the road again this Saturday against rivals Mississippi State. A win there would propel them into the top 10 of the AP Poll.
