Stephen A. Smith was all the buzz in the Sip for finally completing a dare from Coach Yo.
The ESPN personality went as far as ditching a Knicks showdown to attend the Magnolia Bowl rivalry on the hardwood.
"There's a wonderful, wonderful coach at Ole Miss," Smith said on "First Take" Feb. 18. "I promised her I would be there. I'm showing up."
How it all started
The obvious curiosity from Smith's promise was how in the world did Coach Yo manage to give Smith a dare like that?
It all goes back to when Smith interviewed McPhee-McCuin on his show, and how a talk about the absolute chaos the Sip was in turned into an invitation to come and see for himself.
"There was some stuff that was happening with Lane Kiffin and all that stuff," Smith said. "As you know I talked some mess about Ole Miss and Oxford, Mississippi. Stuff like that. Those folks dared me to come down there. I promised them that I would, so I am showing up. Tomorrow night I will be in Oxford, Mississippi."
This is where Kiffin comes in. His villain arc was still a hot topic in Oxford, and Smith was right there in the huddle, fuming over the fallout like us.
"The brothers ain’t trying to come to Oxford, for the most part, compared to Gainesville or Baton Rouge. Let’s just call it what it is, OK?” Smith said.
Besides Smith, Ole Miss head football coach Pete Golding and his team also promised their presence.
With the guest list all set, Coach Yo and team would be giving it their all to bring home a win against Kim Mulkey's squad.
