First a playoff run, now a legal war—Pete Golding’s first 60 days in Oxford have been a total firefight.
Just when the Rebel nation thought the drama was finally over, they instead got a front-row seat to another one.
Dabo Swinney spent 20 minutes in his recent press conference, or better put, media rant, in calling out Golding for allegedly tampering with California LB Luke Fernnelli's transfer.
The Clemson head coach went off on Golding and Ole Miss GM Austin Thomas, accusing them of contacting now-former Clemson linebacker Luke Ferrelli.
Ferrelli recently flipped his transfer to Ole Miss after initially transferring to the Tigers after his freshman season at Cal, just the usual transfer portal stuff.
However, there was simply one alleged text seperating this from the rest of the transfer portal.
"I know you're signed, but what's the buyout?" Swinney said was the text that Ferrelli received from Golding during his 8 a.m. class he was taking at Clemson, per general manager Jordan Sorrells.
The text was followed by another alleged text, this time a picture of a $1 Million check from Golding.
The sizzling accusations have ignited a whole new controversy in the NCAA, one that could mean much more drama for the Rebels.
Swinney flat-out threatenes Golding
“I am not going to let someone flat out tamper with my program,” Swinney said. “If you tamper with my players, I’m going to turn you in. There’s a lot more I can say, but I’m going to let the NCAA do its job.”

Dabo just put Ole Miss on blast, saying Pete Golding offered him a $1 million contract while in class at Clemson.

Swinney's statement clearly shows he's carrying some receipts here.
“There’s tampering. And then, there’s blatant tampering,” Swinney added. “Tampering 301 is when you’ve got a kid who’s going in the portal to sign somewhere, move there, going to classes and you’re texting them while they’re in class. That’s like a whole ‘nother level of tampering.”
If any of the accusations turn out to be true, Golding could be in serious hot waters.
