Ole Miss RB Kewan Lacy did more than just blitzed through the Florida defense on Saturday; he ran straight into the program's record book with his signature BTA celebration.
Lacy added three more rushing touchdowns to his 16 this season. These 19 TDs of the Rebels' star RB broke the program record for the most rushing touchdowns in a single season, a record that once Quinshon Judkins held with his 16 rushing TDs in 2022.
Finishing with 19 TDs also made him the RB with top rushing touchdowns nationally, all while raking in a career-high 224 rushing yards.
But any of these stats isn't why Lacy is the most terrifying RB in the SEC.
It is Lacy's missed tackles forced, as Saturday Blitz's Josh Yourish explains.
"On Saturday, Lacy ran for 224 yards and three touchdowns on 31 carries, breaking the Ole Miss single-season rushing touchdown record in the process. He did it with 14 missed tackles forced, the most by an SEC running back in a single game this season, and it’s the second time he’s done that this season," Yourish writes.
"According to PFF, an SEC running back aside from Lacy has not forced 14 or more missed tackles since South Carolina’s Rocket Sanders in Week 1 of 2024 against Old Dominion—the first to do it against an SEC opponent since Judkins in the 2023 Egg Bowl."
Two of Lacy's three TDs came when the Rebels needed it the most in the fourth quarter. It was Lacy who helped Ole Miss regain their dominance over the Gators, who were leading 24-20 at halftime, in the second half.
And the RB still has another regular-season game to set the bar up higher. The Rebels will have a bye week before facing Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl, which will undoubtedly be another massive night stats-wise for Lacy.
Ole Miss travels to the David-Wade Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 28, to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
